These discount products are designed for the growing audience of people in the United States that do not have health insurance either due to a pre-existing condition or for those who simply can’t afford it.  These products are typically sold to consumers on a monthly pay as you go basis. 

Selective Health Plans: In Jan 2004 FBK Holdings started offering a variety of Discount Medical Programs with added insurance benefits, as well as available prescription programs, under the name of Selective Health Plans. These programs are offered through Protective Marketing, Enterprises Inc. (PME), a non-insurance subsidiary of Protective Life Corporation which was formed in 1907(NYSE: Ticker Symbol: PL). Selective Health Plans is a contracted fully independent agent for PME.

Protective Smart Health: These programs provide members with access to discounts, rebates or specific dollar amounts off the normal retail price from a large base of participating providers. Members pay the provider the discounted cost directly at the time of service, and send in any applicable claim forms to receive any reimbursements they are entitled to.
